
On the 1st April, we kicked off the month with a cheeky April Fools Prank. The residents were given this letter and lots of laughs were had once they made it to the last line. Happy April Fools. We also enjoyed a game of April Fools Day Bingo.
Our Weekly Link with Dunoon Primary has been continuing and lots more fun has been happening. This week the children enjoyed playing with the parachute and trying to get the ball to hit the roof.
The weather had been getting much warmer during the spring season so we made the most of it by getting outside.




On the 2nd April, we had a very special birthday for Jessie who turned 100 years young! She had a fantastic day starting off with a visit from Patchwork Nursery, who kindly gave her a gift and sang a song. She then had a visitor from Tom who has known Jessie for a long time and sang for her and presented her with a gift. In the afternoon we had a brilliant party for her by inviting Kenny Wilson to entertain us and a big buffet tea.






On the 4th April, the Rickshaw returned and we were very pleased. The weather has been great the last few weeks and we have been able to make the most of it by getting out on the bike.







On the 4th April, Hugh had a shot of our new VR set. He went for a trip to the space station and then a five minuet meditation at the Beach.


Also on the 4th April, we said farewell to two of our volunteers. Shona and Lucy have been working with us this year as part of a volunteer program at Dunoon Grammar School. The two of them have been very helpful and nothing was ever a bother for them. We wish them the best of luck with their next steps as they head of to University to study nursing. You both will be greatly missed here at Ardnahein but don't be strangers and come and visit us when you return home


On the 5th April, we watched the Grand National and enjoyed picking horses and luckily choose the winners.


Sheena and Betty enjoyed a walk along the front to see the geese.


We enjoyed sitting out in the garden and with our winnings from the grand national enjoyed an ice lolly and filling up the bird feeders for Spring.


On the 7th April, we were joined by Cowal Youth Forum who came into do a game of bingo with us. We had a great time and lots of great prizes for our winners. We then had a cuppa and a chat. It was amazing to see the young people chatting so well with residents

Jessie and Betty had a lovely time walking around Dunoon and reminiscing over what Dunoon looked like for them growing up.



10th April was World Baton Twirling Day so Sophie Peden came into show us her baton twirling. Sophie has been coming in for a number of years now and this year she was telling us that she is competing in the European Championships in Spain June 2025. We are very pleased for Sophie and she showed us the dance that she will be doing at the Competition.


Kevin Peden came into show us his Lambretta Scooter. Many of the residents loved this and told him about scooter or bikes that they used to ride.




On the 12th April, we choose our horses for the Scottish Grand National and again choose the winner.


We enjoyed making easter goodie bags as a prize for finding the eggs that we hid all around the home. We then decided to get creative and decorate Easter Bonnets.



Mary, Jessie and Rena enjoyed having their lunch out at the Boathouse and then we headed up to the Guide Hall to attend the Assist afternoon tea.
Everyone had a lovely time and enjoyed watching the baton twirling, highland dancers and the children from Clyde Cottage nursery who sang to us.

This afternoon we had the lovely Huggy from Hugs of Argyll in to visit us along with Caeleigh and her two lovely children.
Everyone was very pleased to see them all and enjoyed giving huggy lots of hugs and kisses.

Our winners came into collect their goodie bag for finding the Easter Eggs around the home.






Jessie made the front cover of the Dunoon Observer. She was delighted with her write about about her 100th birthday.

Good Friday Fun and Games followed by a buffet Tea




Easter Sunday, the bunny came to deliver Easter Eggs to every resident which was donated by Morrisons Dunoon. We also welcome Joe Stewart who is a retired minister. He came to do a lovely service for us and to join in our celebrations.



Yesterday morning, we enjoyed some chair exercises Easter themed followed by a game of Boccia which Ann from Cowal Youth Forum let us borrow. We had lots of fun and laughs with this.
Thank you again Ann.


On the 22nd April, we celebrated Liz Jackson's Birthday. She received a lovely present and card from us and enjoyed a slice of birthday cake with her family and friends.


On the 24th April we celebrated Dorrie's Birthday. She had a wonderful day with her family and received a card and gift from us.


Another Staff member completed their Accolade Card. Well Done Lena.

On St Georges Day, we enjoyed creating our very own Coat of Arms and then participated in some Wheelchair jousting

A trip to the boat house on the 30th April for Hugh and Betty. Hugh had a coffee and Betty had her favourite.... Ice Cream. It was so nice to get out in the sunshine but it was lovely as Jessica one of our volunteers came along with us. Marjory also went out to enjoy the sunshine with her daughter.
