It’s been another fantastic month at Ardnahein, filled with fresh air, fun activities, celebrations and plenty of special memories. From our Cowal Games party and exciting prizes to celebrating birthdays and enjoying time together, there has been something for everyone to enjoy. A huge thank you to all our residents, families and staff for helping make another month so special! ❤️🎉🏆🎂
1st of August
Residents enjoyed a fun pool noodle session to keep active, while ruth spent some time doing hair and enjoying a pamper. The day finished with a lively game of bingo, where mavis celebrated an amazing 3 time bingo win! 🏆
2nd of August
Audrey and Ruth enjoyed a lovely walk along the front, taking in the fresh air and beautiful views, followed by another wonderful coffee afternoon filled with great conversation and delicious treats.
3rd of August
The rain didn’t stop the fun as indoor volleyball brought plenty of laughs, followed by a relaxing ladies evening with wine, crisps, strawberries, and great company 🍷
4th of August
For international Owl Day, residents enjoyed owl colouring and began planning a children’s book about three wise owls, while Ian shared wonderful memories during a one-to-one reminiscence session. 🦉📖📸
5th of August
Residents enjoyed a fantastic selection of games, including a new game of KerPlunk, kindly donated by Jessica. Everyone had great fun putting their concentration and skills to the test, with plenty of laughter along the way.
We also enjoyed a game of What’s in the Box? 📦🤔 Residents had to feel the mystery items inside the box and use their detective skills to work out what they could be. There were plenty of guesses, surprises and lots of laughter as everyone got involved!
A huge thank you to Jessica for her generous donation of KerPlunk. It’s already proving to be a fantastic addition to our games collection! 💙🟡
6th of August
Thursday means hairdresser day! 💇♀️✨ Our residents enjoyed some well-deserved pampering, with Myra helping everyone look and feel their very best. We always look forward to our hairdresser sessions, and it was lovely to see everyone feeling refreshed and fabulous! 💕
Brains were also at the ready as we put our knowledge to the test with a fun quiz. There was plenty of laughter, great teamwork and a little friendly competition as everyone worked together to come up with the answers. 🧠✨
We also had a lovely celebration for our supervisor Rahel, wishing her a very happy birthday! 🎉🎂 It was wonderful to celebrate together and wish her a fantastic year ahead filled with happiness, laughter and lots of special memories. 💖
7th of August
We enjoyed a fun pool noodle exercise session, giving everyone the opportunity to get moving, stretch and take part at their own pace. 💪💙 We also enjoyed a few games of dominoes, with plenty of concentration, friendly competition and some great moves along the way! 🁫💙
8th of August
Dorrie enjoyed some lovely time with one of our therapy dogs, enjoying the companionship and cuddles from her furry friend. 🐶💙 It was wonderful to see the joy and warmth that our therapy dogs bring to our residents.
Jessie, Gladys and Hugh also enjoyed getting together for a few games of Noughts and Crosses. ❌⭕💙 There was plenty of concentration, friendly competition and lots of fun as they battled it out to get three in a row!
9th of August
🏴 How Many Scottish Words Can We Think Of? 😂
We had lots of laughs as we challenged ourselves to see how many Scottish words and phrases we could come up with! It was great fun hearing everyone’s suggestions, with some brilliant — and very funny — answers along the way. 😂🗣️ There were plenty of memories shared, laughter and good old Scottish banter! ❤️🏴
Some of our ladies also enjoyed a lovely treat, with fresh fruit and a glass of wine before heading outside to watch the cruise ship sail past. 🍓🍷🚢 It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, take in the beautiful views and have a good old blether together. ❤️
10th of August
We enjoyed a fantastic PT session at Ardnahein, with great participation, plenty of movement and lots of big smiles all around! 💪😊 It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the session in the beautiful weather. 😎💙
11th of August
We had plenty of fun and laughter with some Balloon Bash mayhem at Ardnahein! 🎈😂 With Daft Punk providing the tunes, everyone got involved as we battled to keep the balloons flying. There were plenty of smiles, laughter and fantastic teamwork throughout! 💙🎶
12th of August
Ruth enjoyed a lovely walk to the picnic bench before sitting out in the sunshine with Hugh, Liz, Jessie and Margaret. ☀️ It was a lovely opportunity to relax together and enjoy a chat about our star signs, with plenty of smiles and conversation along the way. 😊
We also had great fun making our very own homemade, hand-rolled pizzas! 🍕👩🍳 Everyone had the chance to choose their favourite toppings and get creative with their own pizza before putting their creations in the oven. There was plenty of creativity, teamwork and, of course, some very tasty pizzas to enjoy! 😋❤️
13th of August
Ruth and Liz enjoyed spending some time out in the garden, making the most of the lovely sunshine and fresh air. 🌸☀️ It was lovely to see them relaxing, enjoying the outdoors and each other’s company. 💕
Some of our lovely ladies also showed off their fabulous new hairstyles from Myra! 💇♀️✨ Everyone looked absolutely fabulous and were delighted with their fresh new looks. A huge thank you to Myra for always helping everyone feel so special and pampered! 💕
14th of August
Lillian, Jessie, Helen and Anne enjoyed a lovely trip out on the rickshaw! 🚲🌿 They enjoyed getting out into the fresh air, taking in the views and spending time together.
Mhairi also enjoyed a wee trip out to the post box to help us send off the surveys we had completed. 📮💌 It was lovely to get out for some fresh air and a walk, while Mhairi played an important part in helping us get the surveys on their way. 💕
We also made the most of the garden with a lovely drink outdoors. 🌿☀️🥂 It was the perfect opportunity to sit back, relax and enjoy the fresh air, good company and a good old chat together. A lovely way to enjoy the garden and spend time together. 💕

We enjoyed a fantastic game of bingo, with plenty of excitement and smiles all around! 🎉 A big well done to all our winners, and a huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make it such a fun game. 💙

We enjoyed a Scottish-themed word search, putting our concentration and knowledge to the test as we searched for all the hidden words. 🏴🔎A special well done to Gladys, who was the first to complete the puzzle! 👏 It was a particularly tricky one, making her achievement a fantastic effort. 💙
18th of August
With children heading back to school, we took the opportunity to reminisce about our own school days. We started with some school-themed colouring before chatting about all the things you might find in a classroom.
The conversation soon brought back lots of wonderful memories as residents shared stories about their primary and secondary schools, their younger years and experiences from their time in education. ❤️
It was lovely to hear everyone sharing their stories, memories and experiences, creating plenty of laughter and thoughtful conversations along the way. 📚✏️❤️

Residents enjoyed lots of laughs guessing which staff members were hiding behind baby photos, while Ruth celebrated World Photography Day by capturing some beautiful photographs in the garden with Allan. 📸✨
20th of August
Mhairi, Dorrie and Gladys had lots of fun dressing up with the hats and scarves from Heidi’s suitcase before working together to choose the perfect outfit for our Heidi mannequin. A lovely activity filled with laughter, memories and plenty of fun! ❤️🧣🎩👗
Brian and Allan recorded another Ardnahein Resident Podcast, chatting about Brian’s life experiences and musical tastes. Brian also shared the touching story of how he became a Christian 30 years ago and the comfort and enjoyment he has found through praise music. ❤️🎶
Myra worked her magic once again, helping our ladies look and feel fantastic with a fresh hairstyle and a little pampering. 💇♀️✨
Mary and Margaret enjoyed a relaxing tea party in our Benmore Gardens Room, with a cup of tea, peaceful music and some well-deserved quiet time. ☕🌸
Quiz Day brought plenty of questions, laughter and friendly competition, with congratulations going to Team Liz, our quiz champions! 🏆💙
21st of August
What a lovely surprise for our staff as Grace treated everyone to a fantastic “Just Because” trolley filled with sweets, juice, cakes and crisps. A thoughtful gesture that certainly put a smile on everyone’s faces! 💕🛒🍰
Jessie, Madeline, Gladys and Dorrie enjoyed getting out and about on the rickshaw, taking in the beautiful surroundings, enjoying some fresh air and having a good chat along the way. 🚲🌿☀️
The Ardnahein Highland Games have officially begun! 🏆 Residents have been taking part in a variety of fun challenges throughout the week, with trophies up for grabs for our Highland Games champions. The competition got off to a fantastic start with the traditional Cabar Toss, bringing plenty of laughs, great attempts and lots of Highland spirit! 💪🌳🏆

Jessie and Ruth enjoyed a lovely chat together at our wishing tree. 🌲✨
Some of our ladies enjoyed getting creative outdoors in the sunshine, making beautiful charm bracelets while sharing conversation and plenty of smiles. ☀️📿💙
Our residents also enjoyed some refreshing milkshakes and fresh cucumber and tomatoes as tasty treats. 🥤🥒🍅
There was also lots of creativity as residents coloured their own squishy Bluey characters, creating some fantastic designs. 💙🎨😊

Bingo brought plenty of excitement, smiles and friendly competition, with a big well done to our winners Jessie, Dorrie and Betty! 🎉🎱🏆
Jessie also enjoyed our coffee afternoon, spending time relaxing and having a lovely chat. Residents came together to enjoy a wee drink, creating a relaxed and sociable atmosphere at Ardnahein. ☕❤️🥂😊

Jessie, Ruth and Liz got creative making their very own Scottish quaichs! ❤️ Using cardboard and tin foil, they carefully shaped and moulded their quaichs before adding their own personal designs with paint. It was lovely to see everyone using their creativity and adding their own individual touches. Well done, ladies — your quaichs look fantastic! 👏🎨
25th of August
Some of our lovely ladies enjoyed a little pampering, getting their nails done and adding a touch of sparkle to their day! ✨💕💅 Our residents also put their geography skills to the test with our interactive “Where’s the Loch?” game. 🔎 Using our large interactive pad, everyone worked together to identify different lochs and rivers across Scotland, placing Post-it notes in the correct locations. A fun way to test our knowledge of Scotland’s beautiful landscape! 🏴🏞️
26th of August
Our residents got creative with their very own tartan designs, creating lots of colourful and unique patterns. 🏴🎨💙 Audrey and Barbara also enjoyed a little pampering, getting their nails done and adding some extra sparkle. 💕✨💅
We also celebrated International Dog Day by making homemade natural dog biscuits using peanut butter, flour, eggs and banana. 🐶🐾 Residents enjoyed getting involved with the baking and learning about ingredients that are safe for our four-legged friends. Some of our staff’s dogs were even lucky enough to receive a special treat when their owners got home! 🐕❤️

Hair Day brought fresh new styles, a little pampering and plenty of smiles, with a huge thank you to Myra for helping our residents look and feel fantastic! 💇♀️💙✨
Hugh and Margaret enjoyed looking through some magazines, providing plenty to read and chat about. 📰💙
As part of our Ardnahein Highland Games, residents also enjoyed a spot of fishing. 🎣🏆 The activity brought back wonderful memories of fishing trips from years gone by, with residents sharing stories and experiences. A lovely way to encourage conversation, reminiscence and create new memories together. ❤️
