What a fantastic month it’s been at Ardnahein! We enjoyed a wonderful Hoedown Fête filled with laughter and community spirit, celebrated the birthdays of our lovely Sheena, Ruth and Barbara, and brought out everyone’s competitive side with our exciting Care Home World Cup. From celebrations to smiles, it’s been a month full of special memories shared together.

1st July

πŸŽ‰ Congratulations, Freya!

A huge congratulations to Freya on passing her driving test! πŸš—πŸŽ‰

Everyone here at Ardnahein Care Home is incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement. It is a wonderful milestone and one that certainly deserves to be celebrated!

We wish Freya many years of safe and happy motoring, along with lots of exciting adventures and memorable journeys on the road ahead.

🎱 Bingo Afternoon

This afternoon, our residents enjoyed a fun and lively game of Bingo. There was plenty of excitement as everyone waited to see if their numbers would come up!

A big congratulations to all of our lucky winners, who each took home a delicious chocolate prize. πŸ«πŸŽ‰

It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, enjoying some friendly competition and sharing plenty of smiles and laughter together.

2nd of july 

πŸ† Care Home World Cup – Ten Pin Bowling 🎳

Today’s Care Home World Cup event saw our residents take to the lanes for an exciting afternoon of Ten Pin Bowling!

Everyone had a fantastic time showing off their bowling skills, cheering one another on and enjoying some friendly competition. There were plenty of smiles, laughter and a few impressive strikes along the way!

A huge congratulations to our winning team, “No Ardnahein No Party”! πŸ†πŸŽ³

What a brilliant performance from the team!

Well done to everyone who took part and helped make today’s World Cup event such a fun and memorable afternoon. 🌟

 

3rd of July 

 

Today, our residents enjoyed plenty of laughter and fun with a hilarious game of “I Trust the Residents!” πŸ˜„

Freya bravely volunteered to take part, placing a cup on her head while sitting in front of the residents. Armed with pool noodles, our residents then took turns trying to knock the cup off her head! There were plenty of laughs, excitement and some impressive swings along the way. A fantastic activity that certainly put everyone’s aim to the test! πŸ˜‚πŸ₯€

🎱 Bingo Afternoon

This afternoon, we enjoyed a lively game of Bingo, with our residents getting involved and keeping a close eye on their numbers. There was plenty of anticipation and excitement as we waited to see who would shout “Bingo!” first.

🐾 A Visit from Some Furry Friends

We were also delighted to welcome some furry friends to Ardnahein this afternoon. 🐢❀️

Our residents loved spending time with their four-legged visitors, enjoying plenty of cuddles, smiles and companionship. Visits like these are always a wonderful way to brighten everyone’s day.

 

 

 

4th of july 

How Many U.S. States Can We Name?

This morning, our residents put their memories to the test with a fun U.S. States Challenge! We challenged ourselves to see how many of the 50 states we could remember without looking anything up.

It was definitely harder than we expected, but there were plenty of laughs, some great answers and lots of friendly debate along the way. A fantastic way to get everyone thinking and working together! πŸ§ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

🀠 Our Hoedown Fete!

What an incredible day we had at our Hoedown Fete!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a fantastic success. The atmosphere was wonderful, with music, dancing, entertainment and plenty of smiles throughout the afternoon.

We simply couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our performers and volunteers.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that, thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who supported our Hoedown Fete, we raised an amazing £506 for our Residents’ Fund! πŸŽ‰

Every penny raised will go towards creating more special activities, entertainment and memorable experiences for our residents.

It was a lovely afternoon here at Ardnahein as we gathered together for a special afternoon tea to celebrate Sheena’s birthday. πŸ«–πŸŽ‚

Our residents enjoyed delicious treats, good company and plenty of smiles as we celebrated this special occasion together.

🧩 A Morning of Puzzles and Brain Teasers

This morning, our residents enjoyed putting their minds to the test with a selection of word and puzzle games from The New York Times. 🧠🧩

It was a fantastic opportunity to challenge ourselves, test our memory and problem-solving skills, and work together as a team.

There were plenty of great answers, a few tricky moments and, of course, lots of laughter along the way! 😊

A wonderful way to start the day with some fun, friendship and a little brain exercise. 🌟

β˜€οΈ Making the Most of the Sunshine

Today, our residents made the most of the lovely weather by getting outdoors to enjoy some sunshine, fresh air and time together. It was wonderful to see everyone making the most of the beautiful day. πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ

πŸ’… A Little Pampering

Some of our residents enjoyed a little pampering today, having their nails done and taking some well-deserved time to relax and unwind.

A lovely opportunity for some self-care, conversation and, of course, feeling fabulous! πŸ’…βœ¨

πŸ“ Refreshing Strawberry Milkshakes

With the warm weather, Margaret treated everyone to some delicious homemade strawberry milkshakes. πŸ“πŸ₯€

They were a wonderfully refreshing treat and were enjoyed by everyone. A huge thank you to Margaret for helping to keep us cool with such a tasty afternoon treat! ❀️

πŸͺ Celebrating Sugar Cookie Day!

Today, our residents had great fun celebrating Sugar Cookie Day by decorating their very own cookies! πŸͺ🎨

There were lots of colourful and creative designs, with everyone adding their own personal touch. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and plenty of laughter as we got creative together.

🧠 A Wee Quiz

This afternoon, our residents put their knowledge to the test with a wee quiz! There was plenty of teamwork, laughter and some friendly competition as everyone worked hard to come up with the answers.

A lovely way to spend the afternoon together! 😊

Today was also a very special day for Freya as she celebrated her 18th birthday! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³

10th of july 

🚲 Friday Means Rickshaw Day!

Friday means Rickshaw Day at Ardnahein! πŸš²β˜€οΈ

Our residents were delighted to make the most of the beautiful weather with a wonderful rickshaw outing, taking in the sights and enjoying the fresh air around Dunoon.

It was lovely to see everyone out and about, enjoying the sunshine and the opportunity to see some of the beautiful scenery around us. πŸŒΏπŸ’›

🌞 Fun in the Garden

This afternoon, the fun continued back at Ardnahein with plenty of games and sunshine in the garden! 🌸

Our residents enjoyed a competitive game of Giant Jenga, with lots of concentration, laughter and a few dramatic moments as the tower got higher! πŸ˜‚

With the sunshine out, ice lollies and plenty of sun cream were definitely the order of the day. πŸ¦β˜€οΈ

11th of july 

πŸŽ‰ Celebrating Ruth’s 90th Birthday

It was a very special day here at Ardnahein as we celebrated Ruth’s 90th birthday! πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆ

This morning, Ruth enjoyed a little pampering session, having her nails done ahead of her birthday party. She looked absolutely lovely and was all set for her special celebration! πŸ’…βœ¨

This afternoon, our residents put their memories to the test with a fun challenge to see how much of the phonetic alphabet they could remember. There was plenty of concentration, teamwork and laughter as everyone tried to work their way through the alphabet. 🧠

We were then delighted to welcome Ruth’s family and friends to Ardnahein to celebrate her wonderful 90th birthday. It was a lovely afternoon filled with laughter, love and precious moments shared with those closest to her. ❀️

12th of july

Today, we had the pleasure of celebrating Barbara’s birthday here at Ardnahein! πŸŽ‰πŸŽˆ

It was a lovely opportunity to come together and celebrate this special occasion with smiles, laughter and plenty of happy moments.

13TH OF JULY 

Care Home World Cup Colouring Competition Winners!

Throughout our Care Home World Cup, we have been delighted to run a colouring competition with children from our local schools and nurseries. Our residents had the very important job of judging all of the fantastic entries, and after much deliberation, we are delighted to announce our winners!

🎯 A Morning of Friendly Competition

This morning, some of our residents enjoyed a visit to our very own shooting range! 🎯

There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter and some fantastic aim on display as everyone had a go and encouraged one another. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the fun together.

🎢 An Afternoon of Wonderful Music

This afternoon, Barbara and Margaret enjoyed a visit to the Burgh Hall, where they were treated to some wonderful live music from Ambrose, Ian and Linda. 🎡

It was a lovely afternoon filled with great company, fantastic entertainment and plenty of smiles.

15th of July 

🐝🌼 Barbara Gets Creative!

Throughout the day, Barbara got creative and helped make a wonderful new noughts and crosses game for our garden tree stump! 🌳

Using colourful bumblebees and ladybirds as the playing pieces, Barbara has created something fun and unique that everyone can enjoy.

It looks fantastic, and we can’t wait to see our residents enjoying a game of noughts and crosses outdoors in the garden! 🐞🐝

A huge well done to Barbara for her creativity and fantastic idea! ❀️

This afternoon, we held another exciting event as part of our Care Home World Cup! βš½πŸ†

Today’s challenge was the Bean Bag Throw, with our residents putting their aim and accuracy to the test.

There was plenty of friendly competition, encouragement and laughter as everyone had a go and cheered each other on.

This afternoon, our residents took part in another exciting event as part of our Care Home World Cup celebrations! πŸ†βš½

Today’s challenge was Curling, and everyone had a fantastic time putting their skills, accuracy and concentration to the test.

There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter and encouragement as our residents battled it out on the curling rink! πŸ₯ŒπŸ‘

A huge thank you to the Befrienders for kindly lending us this fantastic equipment and helping us make today’s World Cup event possible.

🎢 A Special Visit from Dunoon Baptist Church

Today, we were delighted to welcome Pastor Alan, our good friend from Dunoon Baptist Church, who visited Ardnahein accompanied by a wonderful group of American Christians who are staying in Dunoon for the week.

Our visitors spent time getting to know our residents, sharing stories and making new friends. They also treated us to some beautiful hymn singing, creating a lovely and uplifting atmosphere throughout the home. 🎢❀️

It was a pleasure to welcome everyone to Ardnahein, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

A huge thank you to Pastor Alan and the group for taking the time to visit us and share such a special afternoon.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Dunoon, and we look forward to welcoming you back!

Care Home World Cup Closing Ceremony

This afternoon we held the closing ceremony for our Care Home World Cup, and what a fantastic afternoon it was!

We would like to say a huge thank you to Deacon Gault and Jen McCann for providing wonderful entertainment, and to David Gillan for his fantastic dancing, helping to make the afternoon so special for everyone.

A massive congratulations to all of our winners, especially No Ardnahein No Party, who were crowned our overall World Cup champions after an incredible tournament.

We are also delighted to announce the winners of our World Cup raffle:

1st Prize: Freya Burnet 2nd Prize: Helen

A special congratulations also goes to Hugh Davie, who earned the highest number of points throughout the competition for his team and was presented with a Budweiser football shirt.

Thank you to everyone who took part, supported us, and helped make our Care Home World Cup such a memorable event. It has been an amazing few weeks filled with fun, laughter, teamwork, and community spirit. We can’t wait to do it all again!

🌍 Commonwealth Word Search & Teamwork

This morning, some of our residents enjoyed a relaxing Commonwealth-themed word search, putting their knowledge of different countries to the test. 🌍🧩

Meanwhile, Ruth and Jessie kindly lent a helping hand by folding away all the flags following our fantastic Care Home World Cup tournament.

A big thank you to Ruth and Jessie for getting involved and helping us get everything packed away. Teamwork continues even after the final whistle! βš½πŸ†β€οΈ

🎢 Music Group – A Traditional Scottish Beat!

This afternoon, we brought out the musical instruments for our music group and had a fantastic time playing along to the beat of some traditional bagpipe music. 🎡πŸ₯

Everyone enjoyed joining in, keeping the rhythm and, of course, making plenty of wonderful noise together!

It was a lively afternoon filled with music, laughter and lots of enthusiasm. What a fantastic way to spend the afternoon! ❀️🎢

🐝🐞 Garden Noughts and Crosses

This afternoon, Jessie and Margaret went head-to-head in a fun game of noughts and crosses in the garden! 🌳

Using our colourful bee and ladybird game, they battled it out with plenty of concentration, friendly competition and smiles along the way.

It was lovely to see our new garden game being enjoyed outdoors — and we’re sure there will be plenty more matches to come! 🐝🐞❀️

This morning, Audrey led our PT session, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved! πŸ’™

There was plenty of friendly competition and concentration as Hugh enjoyed some one-to-one time playing the game. A lovely way to spend some quality time together.

A Wonderful Day Out at Inveraray Highland Games

Today, Jessie, Brian and Ruth enjoyed a fantastic day out at the Inveraray Highland Games, taking in the wonderful atmosphere, entertainment and exciting competitions. πŸ΄πŸŽ‰

It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the day, soaking up the traditional Highland atmosphere and making some wonderful memories together.

To round off a fantastic day, they were treated to a delicious ice cream from the Pier Shop before heading home with plenty of smiles and happy memories. 🍦😊

🎢 Name That Tune!

This morning, our residents enjoyed a lively game of “Name That Tune!” 🎡

There was plenty of singing, laughter and a little friendly competition as everyone put their musical knowledge to the test and tried to identify the songs.

It was wonderful to hear everyone joining in and sharing their memories of some favourite tunes. 🎢

🎯 Velcro Darts Fun!

This afternoon, some of our staff and residents had a go at Velcro darts! 🎯

There was plenty of fun and friendly competition as everyone got involved and showed off their aiming skills.

A great way to spend the afternoon, with lots of laughter, encouragement and some impressive throws! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Today we had our Teddy Bears’ Picnic! It was a lovely time filled with smiles, laughter and plenty of fun!

This morning, our residents put their knowledge to the test with a fun game of “Who’s That Famous Face?” 🧐

There was plenty of concentration as everyone tried to recognise the famous faces and name them correctly.

This afternoon, we enjoyed another fun quiz, with everyone putting their thinking caps on! πŸ“

There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter and some fantastic teamwork as our residents worked hard to find the answers.

Today, we also enjoyed our very own Teddy Bears’ Picnic! 🧸🧺

It was a lovely time filled with smiles, laughter and plenty of fun, as our residents enjoyed spending time together and celebrating with their cuddly companions.

Today, our residents enjoyed a lively game of Music Bingo! 🎢🎟️

Everyone had great fun listening to familiar songs and putting their musical knowledge to the test as they tried to match the tunes to their bingo cards.

Our residents enjoyed some well-deserved time to unwind, have a chat and enjoy being spoiled.

Today, some of our staff and residents took on the hilarious Blindfold Pen Lid Challenge! πŸ˜‚πŸ–ŠοΈ

With everyone working blindfolded, the challenge was to see who could successfully put the lid back on a pen using only their sense of touch.

There was plenty of concentration, laughter and friendly competition as everyone had a go!

A brilliant activity that certainly tested everyone’s coordination and patience — and provided plenty of laughs along the way! πŸ˜„πŸ‘

This morning, our residents enjoyed a selection of fun casino-style games! ♠️🎲

There was plenty of friendly competition, laughter and excitement as everyone got involved and tried their luck.

This afternoon, we had lots of fun with our Pool Noodle Javelin Throw as part of our Commonwealth Games activities! πŸ†

Our residents put their aiming skills to the test, seeing how far and accurately they could throw their pool noodles.

There was plenty of encouragement, laughter and friendly competition throughout the afternoon.

This morning, our residents put their thinking caps on with a fun game of Word in a Word! πŸ”€

A huge thank you to Jessica for kindly buying us a brand-new game of Jumbo KerPlunk! 🎲❀️

🍫 Making Millionaire Shortbread

This afternoon, our residents got creative in the kitchen and enjoyed making some delicious homemade millionaire shortbread! πŸ‘©‍🍳🍫

30TH OF JULY 

🎨 A Creative Morning with Dorrie

This morning, Dorrie got creative and helped us paint our very own Heidi’s Prizes DIY Prize Machine! 🎨✨

This fantastic new addition was then put to the test for the very first time during our afternoon quiz! Everyone was very excited to see the prize machine in action.

A huge congratulations to all of our quiz winners, and a special thank you to Dorrie for helping to bring this fantastic idea to life. ❀️

We can’t wait to use our prize machine again soon!

πŸ’… Pampering at Our Nail Bar

Mary and Ruth enjoyed a relaxing visit to our nail bar today, where they were treated to some well-deserved pampering. πŸ’…βœ¨

Both were delighted with the results and left with beautiful nails and big smiles!

It was lovely to see them enjoying some quality time together, relaxing and feeling fabulous. ❀️🌸

31ST OF JULY 

 

Ruth enjoyed a wee outing after breakfast.
