June Newsletter
June has been a fantastic month at Ardnahein, filled with friendship, laughter, and wonderful memories. Residents enjoyed plenty of rickshaw rides, scenic walks, trips out, music, games, arts and crafts, gardening, and making the most of the sunshine. We proudly kicked off our Care Home World Cup with a fantastic Opening Ceremony, followed by exciting events, friendly competition, and lots of team spirit throughout the month. We also celebrated some very special birthdays with family, friends, and plenty of cake. One of the highlights was marking one and a half years of friendship with our wonderful friends at Patchwork Nursery ELC, continuing to create special intergenerational memories together. A huge thank you to our amazing residents, families, staff and friends for making June such a joyful and memorable month—we’re looking forward to making even more wonderful memories together in July! πβ¨
1st of June
Residents enjoyed a fun music and instruments afternoon filled with smiles and laughter. The excitement continued as preparations got underway for Italian Day, with residents helping to create a beautiful Venetian masquerade backdrop.

2nd of June
Residents enjoyed a fantastic Italian Day, starting with a creative visit to Patchwork Nursery ELC where Venetian masquerade masks were made together. The celebrations continued with a fun Venetian photo booth, complete with masks, hats, and plenty of laughter.

3rd of June
Residents enjoyed a creative day working on a paper chain Scotland flag and starting a papier-mâché World Cup trophy in preparation for upcoming celebrations. Kath also enjoyed a relaxing pamper session with her nails done.

4th of June
Residents enjoyed a busy day with noodle PT, games of dominoes, and an exciting afternoon of bingo, with lucky winners taking home chocolate treats. The ladies were also treated to a visit from Myra, who spent time doing their hair and helping everyone look and feel their best.

5th of June
Residents enjoyed a fun-filled day with PT, delicious donuts for Donut Day, flower arranging and a creative Q-tip painting activity. We also celebrated Jessie’s birthday and hope she had a wonderful day with her family.

6th of June
Residents enjoyed a day of reflection, fun, and friendship, including a D-Day poem reading, a game of The Price Is Right, our coffee afternoon, and delicious ice cream floats. Jessie also enjoyed a relaxing pamper session to finish the day.

7th of June
Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon of bingo, coffee and treats, followed by a wonderful sing-song of All Creatures Great and Small. There was plenty of laughter, conversation, and music, making for a relaxing and enjoyable time together.

π¨ Allan and Barbara got creative, painting our papier-mâché World Cup trophy. A fantastic effort from both of them—it’s really starting to take shape! π
π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ Residents also enjoyed colouring our Scottish flags, with plenty of creativity, conversation, and colourful designs.
π΄ A fun game of “Where Is the Ball?” brought lots of smiles, followed by a lively game of I Spy π full of laughter and great guesses.

It was lovely to see residents, families, and staff all getting involved together, with plenty of smiles and laughter. π

β½ Our Care Home World Cup got off to a fantastic start with an exciting penalty shoot-out! Congratulations to No Ardnahein, No Party for taking the first victory of the tournament. Residents and staff had a brilliant time cheering on their teams and enjoying the friendly competition. ππ

β½ Residents and the children from Patchwork Nursery ELC enjoyed a fun game of Pool Noodle Subbuteo, with plenty of goals, laughter, and friendly competition. It was wonderful to see everyone making special memories together! π₯ π
π£οΈ Residents also took part in a residents’ meeting, sharing their ideas, views, and suggestions to help shape life at Ardnahein. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the discussion. π‘π
17th of June
π Ruth was hard at work helping to fold up our bunting. It’s always lovely to see our residents lending a helping hand.
π³ Jessie, Ruth, Kara, and Freya enjoyed getting out for some fresh air and had great fun at the swing park, with plenty of smiles and laughter. π
βοΈ Residents and staff also enjoyed taking on some fun hoop challenges, sharing lots of laughs along the way!
π² Residents enjoyed a game of Monopoly with a local twist, using old photographs of Dunoon instead of traditional properties. It sparked lots of conversation, happy memories, and friendly competition. πΈπ
ποΈ Donna and Mary set off on their overnight trip to Glasgow, enjoying a spot of shopping, a tasty meal, and a relaxing drink. We hope they have a fantastic stay! ππ₯π¨β¨

πΊπ₯§ Our Father’s Day Pie & Beer Tasting Event was a fantastic success! It was wonderful to see residents, families, and friends enjoying delicious pies, homemade sausage rolls, quiches, and beers together.

β½ Hugh and Jessie had a fantastic time at Dunoon Grammar School Sports Day, watching the football and even trying their hand at axe throwing! π
πβοΈπ Hugh and Jessie also enjoyed a cooling face mask—a refreshing way to relax and stay cool in the warm weather.

π² Ruth and Hugh enjoyed a lovely trip out on the rickshaw, taking in the fresh air, beautiful scenery, and spending quality time together. βοΈπ
π§ βοΈ Residents also put their thinking caps on, challenging themselves to see how many words they could make from “Thunder Storm.” A fun activity that got everyone thinking!

πΆπ¦’ Residents enjoyed a lovely walk, spotting beautiful swans and cheering on the runners as they passed by. A wonderful way to enjoy the fresh air and local sights. βοΈπ
π Barbara, Ruth, and Margaret enjoyed a trip to the Queen’s Hall to watch Xanadu, spending time together and enjoying a fantastic afternoon of entertainment. ππ
28th of June
πΈ Ruth enjoyed getting out for some fresh air and spotted a lovely flower, which she kindly picked and gave to her friend Dorrie. A thoughtful gesture that brought a smile to her face. ππ
